- Refresh your knowledge from the previous WAI course
- Become familiar with terms, concepts, and work practices related to “Science” and scientific work practices
- Become familiar with the organisation and structure of this course
- Find a team mate and start searching for topics – or better – problems of potential interest

Tasks¶

Read introductory material provided in the Moodle course

Work through the course’s online pages (these pages) and become familiar with organisational matters and course objectives
- Read about Milestones / Structure / Objectives / elements of scientific work practices etc.

Collect all questions that arise during your contemplation with the course material
- Write down all questions and open issues that arise and
- Bring them to the in-class lectures; they will be discussed and answered there
Take Responsibility!
One of the main principles of this course is to learn to take responsibility for your work and your outcome. Be aware, that this is not a standard university course in which you get all necessary information hand-feeded. Instead, you are required to take actions, organize yourself, set goals, estimate and meet expectations, seek for support when you encounter problems or difficulties etc.
Remember, your course lecturer is always available to help and support you – BUT the initiative must come from your side → it is your responsibility.
